The Zoo is conveniently located at the corner of Fulton and Valley (1300 W. Fulton) just west of downtown Grand Rapids. The Zoo is two miles west of downtown Grand Rapids and there is easy access from the I-196 expressway
From the North ( Traverse City ):
Head south on US-131 to I-196. From 196 East get off at Exit 76, Lane Avenue. Turn left onto Lane, then turn right at the second traffic light, this will be Fulton Street. The next traffic light will be at Valley Avenue. John Ball Zoological Garden will be on your left side, ont he corner of Valley and Fulton. .
Take US-131 North to Exit 85b, Pearl Street/Downtown. Turn left onto Pearl Street - which will change its name to Lake Michigan Drive. Follow Lake Michigan Dr. to Lane Avenue. Turn left onto Lane Ave, then turn right at the first traffic light, this will be Fulton Street. The next traffic light will be at Valley Avenue. John Ball Zoological Garden will be on your left side, on the corner of Valley and Fulton
From the West (Holland/Muskegon):
Take I-96 East to US-131 South. Follow US-131 South to I-196 heading towards Holland. From I-196, get off at Exit 76, Lane Avenue. Turn left onto Lane, then turn right at the second traffic light, this will be Fulton Street. The next traffic light will be at Valley Avenue. John Ball Zoological Garden will be on your left side, on the corner of Valley and Fulton.
From the East (Lansing, Detroit ):
Take I-96 West to I-196 (the sign will say I-196 Downtown). From 196 East get off at Exit 76, Lane Avenue. Turn left onto Lane, then turn right at the second traffic light, this will be Fulton Street. The next traffic light will be at Valley Avenue. John Ball Zoological Garden will be on your left side, ont he corner of Valley and Fulton.
